post valentines breakfast

This morning after waking up I was too lazy to actually find something good for breakfast, or rather before I could get to the cupboard to find some breakfast I got distracted by what was waiting for me on the counter.
I first found myself opening a bag of peanut M&Ms from Valentines day and pouring some into my hand. I comfortably sat down on the couch opened up my lap top and started munching on M&Ms at 9am. Then after a few minutes I decided I needed something else to eat...
Wondering back to the kitchen I then discover the caramel and chocolate covered pretzel sticks hadn't all been eaten, so I munched on that, and then decided I REALLY needed to eat something good for breakfast.
I looked in the cup board and non of the cereals seemed appealing, so I chose graham crackers and milk. Might have been the first time I've ever eaten that for breakfast, but I think it was a better choice than have more peanut M&Ms...
I need help. I need to get all sweets out of the house. You know you have a problem when you had peanut M&Ms, caramel and chocolate covered pretzel sticks, and graham crackers and milk for breakfast. Today I failed, so help me...

the proposal

It was the evening of February sixth. We had plans to go up to a cabin in Fairview. We were going to make some dinner at the cabin and then have some fun four wheeling around in the snow along with another couple.
We first stopped at the grocery store to buy some food to make hand burgers up at the cabin, then headed along our journey to Fairview (not the shortest drive in the world). As we are headed up the canyon Brice pulls out a video camera in the car and starts taping everybody, I didn't think much of it, but now looking back it should have been a clue. After a few turn arounds in the truck with the trailer we finally got to the parking destination, suited up in our winter jackets, and got the four wheeler ready to go.
So off we go (Caitlyn & Andrey) to head up the this "cabin", then Andrey was to go back down and pick the other couple up and bring them to the cabin as well, where we were to cook our meal and eat! So we strapped a backpack of food to the front of the four wheeler and headed on our marry little way.
After making a wrong turn we came to a complete stop when the four wheeler got stuck in the snow. I must say I was absolutely no help in getting it out since I couldn't even lift it one inch. So we walked back to a cabin found some willing ladies to help us out, and after a short we succeeded in getting it out. The mothers that had helped us get out were worried about us ever finding out cabin and also the sun had already started to set, they tried to help us find the cabin or the "look out point" in which Andrey was so eager to get to (although i didn't understand why).
Eventually we started to head back down the mountain with no success of reaching the cabin of the look out point. The light was getting dimmer and the backpack on front of the four wheeler was covering the light. I suggested to move the backpack to the back, and as he did he had pulled out the RING (I didn't know he had ), came to the side of the four wheeler and asked if I would marry him! I guess I didn't understand that this was actually the proposal, so I shook my head up and down and said yes, then he said "then you have to wear this". I hadn't even noticed the ring until that point, so out the beautiful ring on, then he knelt and asked if i would be with him for time and all eternity, this time I was more enthusiastic about my answer "YES".
And so we continued our journey down to the bottom where we reunited with the other couple (who had to freezing at that point waiting for us the whole time). Made our way to a lovely home cooking small town diner where we re in-acted the engagement for the video camera that Brice had so cleverly started at the beginning of the trip.
And what a LOVELY evening it was! So there it is the official engagement story.... I Love You Andrey :) ... and you make me smile

no exact solution

why is it that sometimes we do things that bring us pain, and gain satisfaction from it. iv'e been thinking about this more in the past week since i accomplished a half marathon run and by the time i was done i was thinking to myself "that was only a half marathon, how am i ever going to accomplish a complete marathon?". of course the next couple days following getting out of bed in the morning wasn't as easy and it should have been trying to do it with ought my muscles hurting, trying to bend over with out my back feeling like i was 100 years old. now just a few short days later i feel back to my normal self and i have even gone running again (not nearly as long as a distance), and am now planing to somehow attempting to train for a marathon (thanks Hilary for talking me into it just because you needed someone as crazy as you to do it). i know that after running a marathon or even if ever running a half marathon again i know i will be sore, so what's the point of doing something that is going to bring me discomfort?

here is another example... last night i when paint balling with some friends. i had only been once before and i was re-thinking the fact of why i was even going. all in all it was fun. nothing i would be obsessed with and go every day, but i did find some type of fulfillment out of it. now today i have some keepsakes if you will (bruises) to show my bravery in playing the game. going into play i knew that getting hit wasn't going to be exactly what we call fun. so why did we do it? why did we go into play this knowing we would come out with some kind of pain?

i don't know the exact solution to the problem, but i think we find a kind of satisfaction in overcoming some type of physical pain. as for completing a marathon, i think it would definitely be worth it (but i haven't exactly ever run a marathon, so who am i to know). just the single sole fact of satisfaction in completing something as physical as a marathon should be worth some type of physical stretch, paint balling on the other hand i don't have a solution to why the human race does such things (but i am a part of it).

Q: why is it that sometimes we do things that bring us pain, and gain satisfaction from it?
A: i don't have a solution to why the human race does such things.

bussy bee

last week i kept myself pretty busy for a couple of days getting ready to have enough inventory for the the Patina Market once again. since lately i have been looking at some flowers to pin on a belt or on the waist of a dress i decided i wanted to see what i could come up with myself. so i made some to put on belts, they have a loop on the back so it is accessible to slip on and off any belt or even on a ribbon and then tie the ribbon around your waist with a bow, which has potential to be super cute. this particular one below sold before i ever even made it to Patina, we'll see how the ret of em' do.

for those of you have never been to Patina you are missing a little joy in your life (in my opinion). it features local artists and rotates through them every few weeks so things are always changing.

could be be a lot better, for for ones first try it's not too bad. i am excited to make more of these and do some beading on them. perhaps more to come about these later...

unique textured/ beaded ear rings

i also kind of have a mild obsession with bows. i went through a stage about a month ago or so when i wore one every day. i think i stopped since i only had a couple different ones to wear. but now their is no going back. i'm in bow mode, just like when i was a little girl. i used to laugh at my mom for putting bows in my hair, particularly such big bows. i guess i am going through withdrawals now that i am once again making bows to wear.

unique home furnishings

tea for two
i tink this was a dish with a bird in it, i can't quite remember exactly, but i have a weird obsession with birds, so i couldn't resist but to take a picture of it.
this was a precious small three drawer piece, i kind of fell in love with it...

ABODE

ABODE: a place of residence; a house or home

on the top of my list for unique antique stores in SLC, as well as good prices. i always come out with some idea in my head for what i want to make next.
i like the dress on this mannequin, the way that it come in at the waist and has a straight skirt that comes probably to about the knee.

need some new refrigerator magnets? why not just be creative and make them yourself with some old domino and bingo pieces (also would be great necklace pendants).

if their is one thing to know about me, it's that i love vintage buttons (okay so thats probably not the most important thing to know about me). they aren't always the easiest thing to come across, but their are those glorious moments when you walk into an antique store, you are just wondering around and you spot a jar full of what may seem like old dirty buttons, but to me opening it up is like uncovering lost treasure. my mom and i have spent many of times just pouring out button jars and going through them, some odd little thing we find joy in i guess.... but i like to incorporate buttons in many of my "crafts". such as attaching a few buttons on top of each other to make a necklace pendant. once i did this thinking to be clever, but then while my stroll though ABODE i found these realizing i am no as clever as i once thought. but still a good idea. easy for anyone to make, you just have to find the right buttons first!

once again i am loving the unique buttons, also make adorable magnets...

a cute stamp for a unique tag. i love making my own tags, and i love this little clown boy. i need to find me one of those!

this is what the front of the store looks like, just in case you are ever about in SLC and wanted to stop by. i'd say it's worth the trip. it's a small place, but full of all sorts of things!
